Migrating Application or Database
The following section covers the migration of an application host from on host to another host. This is done when refreshing hardware, adopting a new operating system, or for a multitude of business or technical reasons.
Migration of Application Server with off host database
-
Install CenterScape on new host.
See: Windows Installation or Linux Installation -
Configure Certificates on new host. If the new host has the same hostname as the previous one, or is using a hostname that is part of the subject alternative DNS name on the previous CenterScape host the "keystore" file from the previous instance can be used on the new CenterScape instance. Make sure system.properies is updated with the keystore passwords.
See: Keytool and Certificates -
Connect application server to database by logging into the new CenterScape application with admin/admin and then entering database information in the form to connect to the existing database. Use force connect to eject the previous application server running CenterScape and ahave the new server take over.

Common Questions
How will transferring hosts effect licensing?
Transferring hosts will not effect licensing. The sensors are what are actually licensed by CenterScape. Multiple CenterScape servers can be utilized on the same licenses as long as the total number of unique sensors across all CenterScapes have a license. In fact the licenses is stored in the database and is not part of the app server at all.
Can I migrate CenterScape from Linux to Windows or from Windows to Linux?
Yes. There is no difference in the database structure for the Linux and Windows distributes. However the database can only be migrated from windows to linux or vise versa on Postgres as SQL server on Linux is not supported.
Can I migrate from Postgres to SQL server or from Posgtres to SQL Server?
No. At at least not without professional services from RF Code or abandoning historical data by using config import/export .
